In some cases, multiple versions of the same application are supported at the same time via different URLs. Placing all of the assemblies into the GAC would only complicate the deployment of an application like this. In this case, dynamic registration makes more sense. One of the tasks performed during dynamic registration is the generation of a typelib file (.tlb). When this file is generated, it is also registered as the typelib for the component.
